Knowledge about Generator

Generator Set is

Generator Set is another form of a widely used backup system.

The principle of the generator

*** Purpose of use It is a backup power generator in the event of a power outage in order to provide the agency with continuous electricity use***

The working principle of a Generator (Generator Setis

"The conversion of mechanical energy into electricity" Electric generators are machines that can convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. By the rotation of the coil to cut the magnetic field or the rotation of the magnetic field cut the coil. (Magnetic Induction According to Michael Faraday’s principle that the movement of a conductor through a magnetic field or a movement through a conductor creates an induced voltage in the conductor). General of generators can be classified into two broad types:

1. The direct current type is called the Dynamo.

2. The alternating current is called Alternator

Because this type of generator has a constant current output. And can be applied in a wide variety of applications Which can be divided into 2 parts:

- Power source Is the part that generates the mechanical energy of the generator. There are a variety of energy sources including water turbines, steam turbines, gas turbines, etc.

- The power generator or Generator has a working principle. The use of magnetic induction to generate energy in a generator. With a variety of formats as follows

Type 1 : Revolving Armature Type (Ra Type)

There is a working principle by using the rotation of the copper coil. Which is wrapped around the axis of rotation shaft, intersecting the magnetic force line Causing an electrical induction to occur at the ends of the copper coil

Type 2 : Revolving Field Type (Rf Type)

The principle works by using the rotation of the magnetic poles on the shaft. This will cause the magnetic force lines to cut across the copper coils attached to the shell. Causing the voltage around the copper winding

Type 3: Brushless Type (Bl Type)

It is a mode of operation for generating energy in a particular generator. This does not use a Brushless Type brush to induce the energy of the magnetic field. This will produce a consistent and effective induction current.

Divided by the work process into parts as follows

- Exciter consists of an Exciter Field Coil, a coil that causes an electromagnetic induction to be attached to the stationary part.

Exciter Armature is a set of coils that are induced by electric current. It is attached to the shaft and rotates with the shaft. The current arising in the Exciter Armature will be a 3-phase AC electric current.

- Rotating Rectifier is mounted on the shaft so it rotates along the shaft. Responsible for converting the alternating current generated by Exciter Armature into direct current.

- Main Generator is the part that generates electricity for actual use.

- Rotating Field Coil is a coil that is wrapped around an iron core attached to a shaft to turn the iron into an electromagnetic field. By receiving direct current from the Rotating Rectifier

- Stator Coil (Alternator Armature) is a coil that will be induced by electricity and supply alternating current to use.

- Automatic Voltage Regulator (A.V.R.) is a set of constant voltage regulator. Which is an automatic control operation The working principle of A.V.R. is the introduction of the alternating current generated by the Stator Coil to convert it to direct current to the Exciter Field Coil by the direct current quantity is controlled more or less according to the voltage condition from the Stator Coil automatically

Generator Set consists of the main equipment which is

- Engine

- Alternator

- Controller

All parts will be combined into one set. There will be a control unit that commands a generator and a device for selecting power supply, known as ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) that will be chopped to get the power from where. Between the transformer and the generator

By  Generator Set  that are sold in the market generally Will have the body part Which is commonly used in the form of "Engine" can be divided into Gasoline engines, diesel engines and gas engines Which you can choose to use to meet the needs Transmission line system has both 1-phase (Single Phase) and 3-phase (Three-phase) or 3-phase 4-wire systems, as for the power distribution control system, there are 2 types: manual control type and automatic control type.

*** For generators that are used in the industry. Most of them will be an alternator. There are both 1-phase and 3-phase, which will have both gasoline engine and diesel engine ***
